The Centre informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply on 7 August 2026 that it received 87 proposals under the BHAVYA Scheme in Round 1 of Phase-I. The window for this round, open to state and Union Territory governments, closed on 31 July 2026. Maharashtra led with 14 proposals, followed by Madhya Pradesh (11), Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu (7 each), and Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat (6 each).

About BHAVYA Scheme

  • Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana: A Central Sector Scheme run by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to develop investment-ready, world-class industrial parks across India.

  • Scale: Envisages 100 industrial parks over six years, from FY2026-27 to FY2031-32, at an outlay of ₹33,660 crore.

  • Selection Process: Proposals compete in a Challenge mode, evaluated on connectivity, site suitability, quality of infrastructure, industrial ecosystem strength, and policy enablers.

  • Implementation Model: Approved projects are executed through Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) under the Companies Act, 2013, with the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) as the Project Management Agency.

  • Significance: Aims to fill India's shortage of investment-ready industrial land, supporting the Make in India and PM Gati Shakti push for globally competitive manufacturing infrastructure.
