India's Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) has issued a Sujal Gaon ID to 75% of the country's rural habitations, according to government data released on 10 August 2026. Of India's 16,96,213 rural habitations, 12,67,808 now hold a Sujal Gaon ID. This is a unique identification number for villages that meet JJM's water-supply standards.
